SINGER Robbie Williams is to make his movie debut playing Captain James T Kirk in Star Trek XI.
Sci-fi fan Robbie is in final discussions with director JJ Abrams for the part made famous by William Shatner, 76, in the original TV series.
The pop idol, 33, was the voice of Dougal in the 2005 remake of Magic Roundabout, but has turned down a number of on-screen roles.
He is an avid Trekkie, though, and he jumped at the chance of appearing in the eagerly-awaited relaunch of the Star Trek franchise, which will hit cinema screens next year.
Lost creator Abrams, 41, said: "I think he’d be a good Captain Kirk. The Kirk in my movie is quite young, it’s like the early years.
"But I can’t comment on who we are casting just yet. You’ll have to wait."
