SAFETY FIRST: Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen are dedicated to their new fashion line, The Row. Ashley left her studies at NYU to focus on the high-end line, according to NEW YORK MAGAZINE, but Mary-Kate left for an additional reason: student leaks to tabloids. “They’d have internships at the weeklies,” she reportedly said. “Learning is not fun if you’re not safe.”


GARNER’S NEW ALIAS: BROADWAY STAR: Jennifer Garner is about to make her debut on the Broadway stage, PLAYBILL reports. The actress will star in the iconic role of Roxanne in a new production of “Cyrano de Bergerac,” opposite Broadway vet Kevin Kline. The show will run at the Richards Rodgers Theater for ten weeks, beginning November 1.

JOHN & CAMERON, PART 2: John Mayer & Cameron Diaz were out together in NYC again on Friday, PEOPLE reports. They were seen “laughing and talking a lot” at the Bowery Hotel’s lounge, claimed a source. When asked if they are dating, a source close to Mayer reportedly said, “Yes, it’s definitely true.” According to PEOPLE, Reps for both Diaz and Mayer had no comment.

INSIDE MAN: “Rendition” director Gavin Hood reportedly told ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY that he “genuinely [doesn’t] know” if the film’s co-stars, Reese Witherspoon & Jake Gyllenhaal, had a “relationship” while filming (as has been rumored), but said they “were never together on the set” because their scenes were filmed in separate countries.


LILITH FAIR FLASHBACK: Some famous female musicians will get together for the first-ever “Girlfrenzy” festival, MTV.COM reports. Avril Lavigne, Fiona Apple and Sheryl Crow will reportedly headline the day-long concert event, taking place October 27 at Irvine, California’s Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre.

TV’S NEW BLOOD: And finally, some interesting casting news: PEOPLE reports that Kevin Federline will guest-star on “One Tree Hill” as the “cocky, enigmatic frontman” of a rock band in a multi-episode arc this season, and TV GUIDE’s MICHAEL AUSIELLO reports that actress-comedian Janeane Garofalo will join “24” as a series regular, playing a government agent.
