HOLLYWOOD - Hit TV show 24 is going green as producers promise environmentally friendly measures on set to help curb climate change.

Among the new initiatives promised are an end to diesel generators in the studio and hybrid vehicles to transport crew.

The issue of global warming will also be incorporated into upcoming plots.

Kiefer Sutherland, who plays agent Jack Bauer in the series, says, "Global warming is a crime for which we are all guilty, from our cars, our homes and our workplaces.

"All of us at 24 understand the urgency of this problem and, over the next year, we will be implementing creative new ways to produce our show and significantly reduce our carbon footprint."

Sutherland will also front a series of public education videos to raise climate-change awareness.
