Man Killed by Dogs at Actor Ving Rhames' L.A. Home

Ving Rhames

LOS ANGELES - Dogs apparently belonging to Mission: Impossible star Ving Rhames attacked and killed a caretaker at the actor's Los Angeles home on Friday, police said.

The caretaker, whose name was not immediately released, was found dead on lawn of Rhames' home in the exclusive Brentwood neighborhood, Los Angeles police spokeswoman Sandra Gonzalez said.

"This morning at 7:15 a.m. We got a call of a dead body," Gonzalez said. "We found the body of a male, approximately 40 years old, on the front lawn, who had been mauled by dogs."

Gonzalez said there was no one else around when officers arrived and that four dogs, identified as mastiffs, were taken into custody by animal control officers.

She said Rhames, who starred alongside Tom Cruise in all three Mission: Impossible movies and appeared in the 1994 Quentin Tarantino film Pulp Fiction, was not home when officers arrived.

Gonzalez said an investigation was under way and that no further details were immediately available.

Let an investigation pinpoint the exact cause of death.Perhaps the man was not killed by the dogs. Perhaps the man was already dead. He could have had a heart attak and lay there dead. The dogs could have chewed and mauled at him trying to awaken or move the body. Or perhaps the cartaker provoked the dogs for some reason, and then they attacked. I believe they are English Mastiffs. They are considered gentle giants. My faher owns one.

I am a little irritated that the breed of the dog was not mentioned because I feel as though the ONLY reason it was not, was because they were not PITBULLS or ROTTYS...this is soooo discriminatory it is not funny...they will "protect" other breeds, to slander others...it is like being a dog breed racist...

Rich people have surveillance cameras all over their homes. I'd check to see how the caretaker treated the dogs; also, I'd get comments from the others who worked there.
Mastiffs are not known to be violent...people are.
