The hotel heiress was serving a 23-day sentence in Los Angeles' Century Regional Detention Center for violating her parole following a 2006 drunk-driving arrest, but was sent home earlier yesterday.
The statement reads: "I want to thank the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the staff of the Century Regional Detention Center for treating me fairly and professionally.
"I am going to serve the remaining 40 days of my sentence. I have learned a great deal from this ordeal and hope that others have learned from my mistakes."
Hilton's sentence has been returned to the 45 days initially agreed in court. These will be served at her home--Hilton has been fitted with an ankle bracelet--and under the supervision of the Los Angeles Probation Office. The time she has spent counts as five days, so she has 40 days remaining.
