Trump announced in May he had lost interest in the program after six seasons. Viewing figures had also slumped since the first season attracted 21 million viewers.
However, bosses at NBC have decided to bring The Apprentice back for one more season and they claim Trump is hoping to invite his nemesis Rosie O'Donnell on the show.
Trump and O'Donnell fell out on chat show The View last year, when the League of Their Own actress attacked the mogul for his rebuke of beauty queen Tara Conner's hard partying.
During their months-long feud, Trump verbally bashed O'Donnell, calling her a "fat slob," "loser" and "despicable."
Despite the NBC's hopes to invite O'Donnell on the show, her spokeswoman Cindi Berger says, "Not in this lifetime, or beyond."
