Despite being slammed by critics, The Da Vinci Code took $758 million worldwide, and the film's star Hanks and director Howard are in final negotiations to make Angels and Demons--which takes place before the events of The Da Vinci Code.
It sees Hanks' character, Robert Langdon, tackling the Illuminati and the Vatican.
The film, which is once again based on one of Dan Brown's best-selling thrillers, will be written by Akiva Goldsman, who also adapted the original film.
